    • OK... So here goes...

Watch out - you may not always have the right of way landing on this airport - and you don't want to push that issue; the big ol' iron horse might not like it...

      • Gisborne, New Zealand. They've got a railway line crossing the runway.

Sorry, but no... This airport has/had one commercial operator...

                  Manakara it is...

For the record, Burnie Wynard no longer has an active runway at the spot where the tracks go; the displaced threshold of 23 was moved at some point to avoid the tracks.

                  Peshawar has too many carriers...

                  Over to you...

                  • You can land a plane here but not a USN sbmarine even though there is water nearby...and that's a matter of record.

Silly answer: Geneva Cointrin airport. You can land a plane there, but good luck trying to get a US submarine into Lake Geneva.

More serious answer: Eureka Municipal airport near Somoa California where a US submarine ran aground in 1916.

                      • Or...

Are you thinking of Williams Field, serving McMurdo?

                        • No, not Eureka.

The record refers to the airport. A submarine does one thing generally very well.....but it has a limit, which this airfield exceeds.

                            • Or possibly Bar Yehuda Airport (MTZ/LLMZ) by the Dead Sea in Israel... Record held as the lowest airfield in the world, at -1240 ft MSL

You're getting too good at this ! Bar Yehuda it is. At -1240 ft below MSL it is around double the depth that a USN nuclear sub can go below the surface.
