    Not quite so... The sweet refers to the city, not a country.

    The airport does not officially serve this city, just happens to be the closest to it. A new airport is in the works for this city however.

    Let's try Istanbul Ataturk.

    New airport to be built on the Black Sea coast. Turkey...Turkish delight...my favourite sweet confection.

    To be honest, I only knew of two Springfields initially - IL and MA...

    So...

    This airport is currently has the closest land based runway to a sweet city, although won't be for very long.

    As soon as I used the Simpson clue I figured it would be too easy. Over to you.

    Sauce -> Willow...

    Dad through the use of viejo as a reference to old man (dad)... I don't have the reference to that relatively obscure clue handy right now though...

    Viejo = old. Yes I understand that. But where does the "willow" and "dad" come into the clue ?
    Anyway, back soon with another one.

    Need to get something clear here.

    The city is specifically in the PROVINCE of the same name ?

    Specifically not a region, not a county, not a canton, not a municipality etc. ?
