  • Once I saw the terminal at KC I thought , hey, its three rings!

    OK.

15 airlines serve it. Has one runway that's about 11,000 feet.

Nope. Read it carefully again. One word gives a clue.

                        • A flight from this airport helped to start the Spanish Civil War.

                          • Just a guess:

                            Malaga ( AGP/LEMG)

                            • No, not Malaga. The flight in question picked up someone important in the Spanish Civil War era from a Spanish governed place, but did not originate in mainland Europe.
The airport in question has a four engined airliner on static display outside the old terminal.

                              • Seville San Pablo airport.

The many famous flights you refer to are flights transporting Spanish nationalists troops from Morocco (then a Spanish colony) to mainland Spain, mostly by the German Kondor legion. The flight that helped spark the civil war was probably the flight that brough Franco back from the Canary Islands to mainland Spain.

I have not been able to figure out what the historic 4 engined plane might be that is currently displayed in front of the old terminal. Can't find it on Google Earth, or just using Google.
