No. The airport IS the island.

Formula 1 drivers Takumo Sato and Michael Schumacher have both won races very near here....but Schumacher would not have used this airport !

      • Macau International airport.

Schumacher did not use this airport, as it only opened in 1995. And while both Schumacher and Sato won races here, neither of them won a Formula-1 race here (but you did not say they did, good diversion). They both won Formula-3 races.

Well researched Peter, Macau International it is and for exactly those reasons.
And if anyone ever wants to see some incredible motor racing then you have to visit the Macau F3 Grand Prix and/or the International Touring Car races. The motorcycle racing is also something else to see. Can't say I'd want to race a bike between concrete walls though !!

            • Another hint: in 1971 there was a start-up company that wanted to set up shop. The airport did not co-operate enough and the start-up decided to go elsewhere. With hindsight, the airport must have some regrets!

That's the one. The big company that decided to go elsewhere is FedEx. With FedEx Memphis is among the largest cargo airports in the world, Little Rock is a minor airport feeding the hubs in the USA.

                  • One runway. Elevation just over 70 metres.

I accidentally stumbled on this one !

                    • "Tie a Yellow Ribbon round the Old Oak Tree" .... well, a tree anyway, could be a suitable theme song for this airport.

                        Keywords....

                        ACCIDENTALLY

                        Famous "Tree"

....but in themselves not directly connected.

                                Correct country. Wrong airport.

Tree (very old)..singular. Not a wood or a forest connection.

                                Investigate the word Accident.
