    • Siem Reap (anagram of "Praise me") it is. The religious building is the temple of Angkor Wat nearby.

      Over to you.

      • Though it started before the official date of 1929, it currently has two active asphalt runways. During WWII it saw rapid growth as military production was booming in the aircraft plant across the street.

It was recently served by an airline named after a city and region, to (neither), which it actually flew.

            • Oh! Excellent association but the wrong one.

Actor Paul Newman spent time in one. It would have never been a good "bush" plane but the association is there.

My Dad worked for Cutris Wright before they closed local shop as did the Naval Air Research labs. Had an uncle who during the depression built a plane from scrap and powered it with an Indian motorcycle engine. Pure true seat of pants with no instruments. Stall and spin on the third flight but he was fine.

              • Hmmmm ? I'm being drawn to Republic Airport, Farmingdale, NY ?

Grumman had a factory over the road, they built the Grumman Avenger and Paul Newman flew Avengers during WW2 ?

                • Very close! Go a little to the south and west.

"Boston and Maine" had service there but I got a chuckle out of that because they flew to neither Boston or Maine.

                      • Another island airport.
Home base of an airline with a currently active fleet of 6 aircraft.
                        Has a military presence.

                          • Amílcar Cabral International Airport (IATA: SID, ICAO: GVAC) on the island of Isla do Sal/ Cabo Verde ?

                            • No, a bit closer to Europe. There is only one picture in the database of the gate guard aircraft on the military side.
