I have shown just a part of the aircraft. As time goes by (like...tonight when I get home from work !) I'll add parts to the image. If I had shown the whole image the aircraft would have been immediately recognised.

Not a Yak 3 or 9, but looks decidedly like a P-51 'Stang...but that ain't North European...no sir, that one was built right here in LA, in fact many were built on what is now the cargo area, or ICC, as it is known now. So then, Mr. Whitelegge...is it a P-51 Mustang? IF so, then that is too easy. If not, I'll slink away...
I'm generally awful at these...North European? SAAB? FOKKER? The spinner looks a little small in comparison to the canopy, suggesting a trainer (though it looks single seat - plus a combat canopy) Ummm...!
Getting warm. I might be more correct in saying north of northern europe. The country of origin is in the European Union although the union did not exist when this aircraft was built.
