      • RAT? im so out of date with these aviation terms but isnt that the thing that lowers down in the event of an electrical faliure?

        • RAT = Ram Air Turbine... Yes, it is generally designed to provide emergency electrical and hydraulic power...

          • The fact that the RAT is extended, looks rather corroded and the first pic isn't exactly in peak condition I'm guessing that this is an oldish bizjet or small airliner in a museum or a dump somewhere ?

Is the first shot a fin tip ?

EDIT: ....or possibly a military jet ?

            • Your'e right on almost all counts, the first picture is a portion of the fin, it is not in pristine condition, and it is a military jet.

              Cheers,

              • Must say - that RAT looks like it could be off of a Draken...

                • That is because it is excactly that, a Draken! Well done, jkstark!

                  You have control.

                  • Interesting - I've not seen that tail configuration on a Draken; is that the jammer antenna on the tip of the stab?

                    • I would suppose so, or maybe RWR

                          • In the absence of the statics being labelled Pilot or First Officer I would stab a guess at a single seat something ?
Other than that, I have'nt got a clue what it is !

Could this be a transport aircraft such as a C-130?

                              • This is a military aircraft, with two pilots. Yes, it is used in a transport role, but is not a C-130.
