Can I ask about the horizon on this one please - I am looking at the corrugations on the building on the top right of the image, and it appears as though the verticals are aligned. Can a screener please check for me?

The reason is the compression in the sky when the image is equalized. The cause can be the settings in the camera to the workflow you are using to process the images. You could look at starting editing in 16-bit/channel when you import if you are taking images in RAW format. The looking at an image straight out of the camera and seeing if there is compression there. If there is, then it's camera settings. If not, then check each step of your editing workflow to see where it is introduced. ...

Can I just confirm on these rejects - softness on this one? Because I compared to other images I have on the database and it's comparable in sharpening.

And this one? Is the heat distortion on the cheat line?

A great deal depends on the starting size of the image. If you are starting with a size less than 1080 pixels, then that is more than likely too small and not worth editing. Increasing size will lose quality for sure, but reducing size say from a 4000px image down to 1080px will only increase quality. You don't say what you are starting with. If you are limiting the size in your camera, then you are going to be fighting an uphill battle to start with. Give a little more info, or post a couple of your raw images to start with, that will give a lot better idea of what you are dealing with....

Gotcha! I have found a couple of others that are sharp from the camera, so will try to work on those.

If you want to validate your workflow, there are some good tutorials posted https://forums.jetphotos.com/forum/a...ls-for-editing - even after uploading to JP for 20 or so years, I still looked through these to see if there is a way to shorten, or at least just validate my workflow. Might give you some good ideas.
