In the case of a modern laptop you wouldn't even need to remove anything. 3g of PETN would easily fit into an empty M.2 drive expansion bay or a PCIe memory expansion slot.

The NTSB preliminary report is out. "According to Endeavor, the distance from the hold short line to the nose landing gear of the CRJ was approximately 56 feet". However, and somewhat confusingly, the accompanying graphic (Fig 3) shows this to be the distance from the hold short line to the aircraft's nose, not to the nose landing gear. Of course, in a world in which "hold short of" can mean any distance you want, then this kind of detail doesn't matter. But it might be worth considering that had the CRJ stopped (say) 40 feet short of the hold short line instead, an A350 taxiing down the centerline of taxiway E would not have impacted it. Clearly, it's a whole different story if it's a B777 holding short, instead of a CRJ, though.
