  • Replacing photos with nicer ones

    Hi all!

Iīve checked some previous threads with the same title, but didnīt get the answer I wanted, sorry if I have missed the answer somewhere...

so.. Iīd like to know if there is an easy way of deleting already accepted pictures?
For instance, I got several pictures of aircraft of my homecarrier accepted, of course from time to time you get such aircraft in way better conditions like you might had on the pic already in database from years ago. But.. uploading again is not possible as itīs a common similiar shot, which is quite annoying, but understandable of course.
Therefore I want to let some of these to be deleted and replaced with nicer ones.
I tried to add the request in the comment while uploading the new one, to please delete a specific older one. Well.. wasnīt successful

    How?

Wouldnīt it be nice to introduce an user-option that allows deleting pics easily by ourselves?

    Thanks in advance
    greets from VIE

Perhaps you are unaware, but this past summer we changed the rules for similar. You may now upload images of the same side/sequence, as long as they are taken on different dates. If you have images already accepted more than 5 years old, it is unlikely that newer images will be considered similar, unless they are virtually identical. Simply changing the angle or shooting with a different background will make it very unlikely such images will be considered similar. That way, there is no need to delete older images

Hi, thanks for the fast reply.

Ok, sounds interesting.. my actual case (not quite matching the situation mentioned above, but anyways):
      the one in DB: https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/8675691
      the one rejected: https://www.jetphotos.com/viewreject_b.php?id=6210690

Here's the place to request deletion of picture. Please note we need the full link and not just the photo number

        Thanks

        Alex

PS : also note that only senior screeners have the ability to delete pics so you can't request it with an upload as there's a strong chance that the screeners involved won't have the ability to do so

          Thank you Alex!!

But I‘m still kinda confused how to deal with similar shots now to be honest.
According to dlowwa my pic posted above should have been accepted, shouldn‘t it?

            upload guide still says:
            Similar refers to:
            - same registration, similar angle or composition or same background taken on different dates.

whatīs correct now? and especially for this case?:
            the one in DB: https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/8675691
            the one rejected: https://www.jetphotos.com/viewreject_b.php?id=6210690

            thanks, cheers

PS: has been accepted meanwhile, as I found out it has a different EXPO sticker.
But still wondering if it was similar or not (assuming no new sticker)
A6-EOZ. Airbus A380-861. JetPhotos.com is the biggest database of aviation photographs with over 5 million screened photos online!

Angle is similar, but background/light is different enough it would have been ok for me. In the end, such decisions will be up to the screener's discretion so it will be subjective, but we try to give photographers as much leeway as possible hoping that the system won't be taken advantage of (say someone uploading the same side/reg. from seven consecutive days or something).

                Hi guys,

Based on this thread I was under the impression that this would be ok: https://www.jetphotos.com/viewqueued_b.php?id=6264692

I am not questioning the "noice or grain" rejection, but the background and light are very different here and the angle is definitely not the same. Could you please clarify this aspect in light of this particular thread?

                Thank you

Angle is really similar but the better light can be a good argument. Unfortunately the noise is way too visible in sky, I can see pixels all over the sky.

                  Regards
                  Alex

                    Hi Alex,
As I said - I am not trying to appeal this photo, but what I would like to understand is whether this is acceptable or not, given totally different light and a slightly similar angle? I want to make sure I do not get rejected for "similar" in case there are no other defects

Oleksiy, I think as Alex said, the light should be different enough in this instance to allow it in the database. So if you can fix the grain, it should be ok to upload again. Just for reference, out of three screeners who screened your image, only one thought it was similar. And that touches on what Dana said, judging images for similars is quite subjective and sometimes screeners will vote one way or the other. I hope this helps.

I was also interested in what to do if I have better photos! I plan to buy a more expensive camera. More tips are also here http://fixthephoto.com/blog/tech-tip...tographer.html
