  • Reasons for rejection / editing advice

Recently, my queue of 5 images were all rejected, as apparently none of them met the standards. Since there were no specific reasons for these being rejected, and they were all immediately deleted, I'd like to ask some of the more experienced photographers / screeners for some advice on why these were rejected, and what I can do to improve them in terms of post-processing and shooting techniques / camera settings. I use a Nikon D3, which is a fairly old DSLR but takes great quality photos. I use Lightroom to edit these photos, and I am fairly new to photography.

Here are the rejected images in full-size:

  • Editing advice request

Hi all. I've been reading a lot in the forums and the website about pictures and so, trying to learn from mistakes from other people before uploading anything. I tried my first badge of pictures recently and got rejected for "bad quality". The thing is, what can I do about it? Because I am at a dead end right now, I don't know what can I do about that, and I want to learn to do it right. The info of the pictures is what follows: 230mm f/4.9 ISO 50 shutter speed 1/1000s and 1/1500s respectively. The original size was 12Mp (4000x3000) rescaled to the maximum allowed of 1280x720p. If we zoom the image of course it is pixelated. It is a 720p image. So I don't know what to do to get them sharp and clean. Any advice would be appreciated because I'm out of ideas. Thank you all have a great day.

  • Camera options for plane spotting videos

    Hi all,

I am looking to purchase a camera to record plane spotting videos from a relatively close distance (usually at the end or side of the runway). With that being said, it would be nice to have the option to zoom in a decent amount should I choose to shoot from afar. I know a little bit about cameras (even less about camcorders) in general but I am torn between getting a dedicated camcorder, or a mirrorless with good video specs.

My budget is up to £1500 for the camera, will spare another 600-700 for a lense if it's a mirrorless. I want to shoot in 4K and it would be nice to get 60fps but I'd be happy with 30. Will very occassionally be shooting in low light conditions so I'd want something that performs somewhat decent in that area. I will mostly be shooting airliners but will also use the camera at airshows, so will be capturing fast jets too.

Like I said, my knowledge is limited, so there are probably other factors I should be considering but...

  • "Photo not showing on Flightradar24" - Advice

    Good Morning.

As we get many requests lately, asking why a photo is not shown on Flightradar24, even while it's the most recent by date:

Please be patient! The photo will not show up at Flightradar24 directly after it got accepted to our database - the servers need some time for caching and for refreshing the photos. This can take up to 48hrs in some cases!

Photos which don't show the whole livery of an aircraft - this includes: Close-ups, captures from an acute angle where the wings or other parts of the aircraft block the livery, face 2 face photos, silhouettes or close crops where the tail is not fully visible will be excluded by us (if not done by the photographers).

Photos you have selected to be not shown on Flightradar24 by clicking "Exclude from Flightradar24" in the "Add photos" formwill also not be published there.

Keep in mind exceptions to this guideline are made, for instance for the only...

  • jonthespotter - prescreening request / editing advice

Hey everyone, hope you are all doing well!

I was wondering if anyone of you guys can check these photos and let me know if there's anything I should change about them. I wouldn't like to wait 14 days just to get it rejected, so I thought I would ask some people for advice first. Thanks!

  • Pre screen KLAF night shots

Hello! I am currently having trouble deciding which photo would be best to upload of this E120. I don't typically upload long exposures here. So, I really love photo 1 because of the waving wands and I feel like it's a pretty unique shot, however photo 2/3 have better lighting. Would photo 1 still be accepted, and would I upload all of these photos as just "night shot" (No artistic or anything?) Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!...

Hello, need some guidance about halo's. First of both photo's were rejected due to editing halo's.
I have difficulties spotting them and correcting them.
I think it's about the black & white lines at the edges of the aircraft

I tried to use the method from the Youtube video linked in the tips & tricks, but I'm not quite sure if this helps to remove.
The second picture is with the corrections.

Please advice if this would be sufficient, or if the halo's are somewhere els. And how could I prevent them in the future.

    Kind Regards...

  • Speedbird2706 editing advice

Hi all, I am relatively new to the forum but I have uploaded photos to the database. I live in Seattle so the weather is very fickle, and that means a lot of "Too much/too little contrast" rejections I am hoping to get some help as the gray and rainy months come. My first one is of the first United Airlines 787-10 landing at PAE yesterday, however the clouds rolled in.

Heres the link to the image: https://flic.kr/p/29CUXiT

    Any help is appreciated

  • Airport Overview Shots

Hello. I previously tried posting an overview shot of Marshfield Municipal Airport (KGHG) on JP. The photo was taken from the sky, while doing a flight lesson. However, when I tried submitting it, it would not let me submit it, as I had left the "aircraft registration" box empty. Obviously I couldn't fill this in, as the picture included no aircraft. What do I do to fix this?

  • klaxspotting Editing Advice Thread

So not long ago, I got this photo (https://www.jetphotos.com/viewreject_b.php?id=6699554) rejected for "too much or too little contrast" I appealed it, since I wasn't too sure about it, and the response I got was a rejection with the note "Almost backlit" and nothing else (screenshot of email is attached). I'm a little confused, as a photo being almost backlit shouldn't be a reason to be rejected, and there was no comment about the supposed contrast issue with the photo. Could someone please explain why the appeal was responded to like it was, and (if improving the photo is possible) how to improve it to make it acceptable? Thank you in advance!...
