Qantas, and the end of the B763ER
Why did this happen? As I wrote earlier, I'd had never assumed that 'our' 747 (QF and LH) would live much longer than the 767. The 767 is younger than me, I'd never expected that. But, since I am here, a certain development in Europe has taken place. For everything that is less than "the real long haul"**, the intercontinental airlines have an alternative. And for sure, that's the reason why I have never spotted my nickname at my home airport. **less than 5,000 nmi, and I have not invented that saying. LH-Triple3 and A343 have been used here in the past. For today, one rare LH-A346 is on the EDDL schedule?! Hopefully, this bird is depicted well here on our platform. Seahawk?!Afaik, the smallest jet aircraft that my favourite airline has ever used to cross an ocean here, was indeed a LH-Triple3. I am born near the wrong airport to say much about LH-B763. LH avoided that type when Star Alliance was founded, in 1997. Successor, in case of LH: ? The LH-triple3 was inaugurated in 2004...

Trip Report: Trying to try Qantas' new economy! Part 2 (SYD-PER-SIN)
The old, the new, and something in between with Qantas - Part 2
Welcome to the second part of my trip report. This will cover my return flight from Sydney to Singapore via Perth. If you missed my outbound flight from Singapore to Sydney please click the link below.

Background I have been living in Singapore for the past 2 years and finally got some time off to visit my family and friends back in Sydney. In the months before my trip I did a comprehensive search to find the perfect combination of when I am free, the airlines and of course price. Late November had the best prices and surprisingly Singapore Airlines was the cheapest full service airline. I booked my leave and once that was approved a few days later I went to book my flights. To my disappointment SQ had increased their prices by $300. Time to find a plan B. After considering...

Trip Report: Trying to try Qantas' new economy! Part 1 (SIN-SYD)
The old, the new, and something in between with Qantas - Part 1
Hi, and welcome to this journey on Qantas!
Part 1 will contain details from the journey from Singapore to Sydney. Part 2 will soon follow with details from my return flight.
After considering all my options I finally settled with Qantas, as I wanted to try out their new seats on their refurbished A330’s. Qantas was also the cheapest “...

Qantas pilots forget to lower landing gear
Looks like November is going to be the month of forgetful pilots... forgetting to land, forgetting landing gear, what next?
There's also a small titbit about an airspeed issue similar to what is suggested may have affected AF447.

A380 @ lax
Does Qantas fly the A380 into LAX on Saturdays? I am thinking of flying in just to do a little spotting, but a Saturday (March 7th) would be the best day to do it.
Thanks!

MAS and QF are in talks for closer parternship...
A merger with MAS would be atrocious. The airline has not been doing well for years, but rather - battling with other better equipped airlines for similar marketshares (such as Thai, SQ, CX to name a few). Codesharing would not be a bad idea at all, and if we could swing them to OneWorld, it would be a feat. I really want to see how this turns out after all is said and done....
