  • Save the SJC observation deck

For those of you who have never been to San Jose, CA, Terminal C [built in the mid 1960s] there has one of the few [only????] open air observation decks left in the United States. Currently, SJC officials are planning a new terminal to replace the venerable Terminal C and I'm suspect they're not considering an observation deck. I went to the SJC web site http://www.sjc.org
and sent an email to [email protected] requesting that they please remember to incorporate an outdoor observation deck in the new terminal.

    The response I got was:
    Dear Bill,
Thank you for your suggestion. We are currently in the process of
designing the new airport facilities--Phase One (the North Concourse Project) is set to break ground this Fall! I will be sure to pass along your
suggestion to those working on the project for the design of the future phases. If you
would like to find out more about the Airport Improvement Program,
please visit our web site at http://www.sjc.org/improve.html

Thank you again for your suggestion!

    Sincerely,

    Marina Renneke

WHAT?! GET RID OF THE DECK?! WHY?!

SJC is one of the last airpots that gives you a deck right up close to the action to spot on. And thats one of my favorite places to spot in the whole bay area.

Mabey if enough of us e-mail them about the deck, they'll see how imporant it is to people. Im going to send a similar e-mail requesting for them to save the deck as well.

How does an airline thats going bankrupt sign new regional carriers, launch a discount airline, purchase new planes, AND repaint their fleet? I dunno, ask United.

WE must save the deck. Viewing decks are awesome and great place to hang out whn you dont have your camera, they are good with the camera too but you do have to watch the sun though.

        We should all email them.

In mine I thanked them for being the most "spotter friendly" airport in the bay area(outta SFO, SJC, and OAK) both pre and post-9/11

I also told em how I drive 30mins outta my way to fly outta SJC over SFO or OAK

both are true, and hopefully kissing up does something

Yes, the reason I started this thread is that I was hoping to get an email campaign going to save the deck. If SJC management realizes that the deck attracts visitors who spend money at the airport, they might think about it.
