  • NW's DC-9 Routes

    Hi all-

Hoping to catch a flight on a DC-9 b4 they're gone. My questions are:

    1) What routes do the DC-9s operate?

    2) When are they due to retire?

    Thanks!

Northwest has so many that they are all over the U.S. You will be able to get on one with in the next year or two.

Go to KMKE, literal hordes of those things. AND you can even see some in and out of ORD.

They still fly all over. I know they fly out of RIC to DTW. My aunt is booked on SEP18 on a DC-9 from MSP-YYZ. They aren't rare at all.

          NW DC-9s aren't exactly rare.

They're on every NW route out of CMH:

          CMH-DTW
          CMH-MEM
          CMH-MSP

            CMH
            RIC
            DTW
            YYZ
            MSP
            KMKE
            MEM

NW is starting Indianapolis (IND) to Orlando (MCO) service in a couple of months on the DC-9. One site you may want to try is www.airnav.com

Just put in the airport code and it will tell you everything and more about the airport in question.

According to my NWA World Traveller magazine (April 2004) they have 164 altogether. A few, I'm not sure how many, have been retired since then. Chris Burns should know the exact number.

Another to add to your list is ABE (Allentown/Lehigh Valley, PA) who has 3 DC9's/day ABE-DTW.

(ABE is the closest major airport to the Pocono Mountains, about 30-40 minutes from the Poconos and 70-80 minutes from Philadelphia, in case your wondering).
