Have flown on a Tu154 (Balkan Airlines) and Tu134 (Primair) and the biggest difference was the apparent lack of acceleration on take off. Lot of noise from the Tu134 - the trip report in on this site (somewhre)

The 154 pressurisation was very harsh on the return flight and having picked up a cold on the trip, did not do my hearing any good - I was almost totally deaf for 2 or 3 days after my return.

I watched two IL-62's land in Edmonton in '95 or '96 (it was the Ukrainian Prime Minister (or President?)). They idled past me, about 150 feet away, it it must have been the shrillest thing that I've ever heard. I really had to hold my hands over my ears because it was soooo incredibly shrill and loud. Cool airplanes though!

I've often watched TU-154's take off from Frankfurt, and I must say that they are relatively quiet and have a pretty good climb rate.
