A DL 737 (type unknown) skidded off of runway 8L here at ATL, at about 6:30 p.m. The aircraft encountered mechanical problems after takeoff from ATL ( it was headed to STL , I think) and on return skidded and had it's nose gear stuck into the mud. The entire incident has caused widespread delays in excess of two hours for all flights leaving the airport. Factor contributing to the incident include mechanical problems as well as horrible weather here (major winds and heavy rain). No passengers were injured in the incident.
