    What size of glass do u need for contrail shots?

    Took this today, first attempt at it, definitely not gonna try to upload..lol

    As big as you can possibly get I would imagine! 400mm is the absoloute minimum really, i've taken some with 300mm but they require heavy cropping to be of any real use even on the heavies.

      I would agree that 400mm is about the low end unless you are gonna plan on doing virtual 100% crop and then having grain and noise....

          400mm * digital crop (1,5) * 1,4 converter = fine

          Which gives you an 840mm. And you want to use a tripod.

            Over LHR i find that 300mm is enough on my 1.3 crop which is only 390mm!

            Having 400mm is nice but not a nesscessity.
