My dad used to fly those in India. I think some flying clubs still use them (not too sure).

Well, you also have to think which one makes a better story. William Boeing launching a company from his boathouse in 1916 or European governments deciding to build an airplane. Kinda like which is a better story, Southwest being started on a cocktail napkin or Amtrak?

The sad thing is most of the people on this forum will not understand my post simply because what they know about flying starts with A380 and 777
A cub would be badass, but I gotta have a twin too. Now that I've started flyin multi I think I'm hooked. Nothing beats a single engine instrument approach.

I love technology and everything, but I still want to be able to actually fly the airplane. Automation isn't all good. For example, I believe that an airbus wont allow you to overstress its airframe. What if you're about to hit somethin (say another airplane) and the only way you wont hit it is to yank back on the controls and overstress the airframe a bit. I'd much rather take my chances with bending the wings a bit than hittin somethin. That's just me though. Boeing's policy on automation is to have stuff to remind the pilot to do stuff, so the pilot actually gets to do it. Airbus just has the plane do everything itself and say 'hey, I just did this so we're all set'. Thats not real flying, that's monitoring the system that is monitoring the system.

UND has a cub for tailwheel. Its not a J-3 though, its a PA-18. Less old and more balls is the only difference.

I think people people dislike airbus because it is european and thats it. They make great planes and they sure did better than Mcdonnell Douglas against boeing because they're not out of business.

Sweet ride Clovis! I havent seen or fueled one of those in a long time. 6 years is the ballpark figure.... Gotta love those old radial engines, my first experience with a beech 18, still running mail in 1998, went like this. "How much oil can I get you?" I asked the pilot. "6 should do" he replied.... "A whole 6 quarts?" I asked... "No" he replied. "I need 6 gallons".... LOL... Good times!!!!

Seriously, the ONLY reason I dislike Airbus, is because of the fact that they take forever to refuel. Does anyone know the fuel flow rates of the bigger airbus Aircraft? I do like the A330, ( most because of wingspan) it would be a shame if it took fuel as slow as a 319 or 320. ( I heard this is because the small outer tanks fuel first, then it goes into the bigger wing tanks)

I love those Beech 18s...especially the chromed out ones...mmm god they are sexy

I have never actually gotten to fly in one, but from what I hear they are very gentle.

Hi im a new member this site but i visit it quite often on a daily basis. I have to be honest with you all. I am pro-Boeing. But that does not mean i am anti-Airbus. But honestly, lately when ive been hearing about all the orders that Boeing has recieved so far this year it makes me proud that American jobs are being preserved despite the tough competition from elsewhere.

I am not a pilot, and though i am in the U.S. Air Force, my job does not directly relate to avaition. But as an enthusiast, i tend to like Boeing aircraft just a little more than Airbus because; well yeah ill admit its American and not European. But, that doesnt mean i hate Airbus. I mean, i think the A320 series is a damn fine product. Do i think the 737NG is better? Yes. But its all my opinion and to each his own right?

I hope that all this makes sense as i like aircraft from both makers.

George W. Bush is not correct. It was Bill Clinton in his 1998 State of the Union speech. HMMMMMMMMM.
