      Hi all,
I have miswritten sg in my previous posts. I wrote Bulgarian Holiday with BHX code instead of Balkan Holiday (BGH). Sorry.
Here are the planes what I saw last time:

      THY 1529 B-737 FL380 routing BUDOP-PATAK 18:19
OHY 243 A-320 FL missed, but she was flying lower altitude, (like FL340 or 320 where no contrail was formed at this time) routing BUDOP-PATAK 18:53
      UAE 9999 B-747 FL380 routing BUDOP-PATAK-MAVOR-VARIK 19:03 (GTI c/s, full blue tail, blue engines)
      OHY 5455 A-300 FL340 routing BUDOP-PATAK 19:20

what type of radio do you guys use to monitor this stuff
            and isnt it illegal
            ????
you might be an island hopper pilot if:

            1. Turning on the airconditioning involves opening the cockpit window

            2. The cabin door is in need of ductape

Nox we use a radio scanner to monitor ACARS, what you hear is not voice message but a "burst" of digitnal noise. Once you get the scanner up and running, you need a decoder, like AirNav or WACARS.

              Good luck

And oh, it's not illegal at least in U.S. but in some other countries (cities) it might be illegal to own a scanner (like singapore).

As long as you dont show off to the cops, you should be fine

I use a Yupiteru 3330 scanner, and a pair of 10X40 binos, more logs to come as soon as the WX improves!!!

                        Hi all,

I saw the following two aircraft on August 28, 2003:

PAC 421 (Polar Air Cargo) B-747 FL340 routing BUDOP-BABUS 16:27 (no contrail, I even read off the "POLAR ..RGO" letters on the fuselage, the others were covered by the wing)
                        BUC 401 TU-154 FL380 routing BUDOP-BABUS 19:07

Coming back soon with a "dot spotting" trip report we did today early dawn, 46 miles to the North.

We went for a trip with friend to the other side of the upper area westbound track UL602 at early dawn. Observation is better in the morning from the North of this routing, and in the evening from the South due to light conditions so you have to travel a couple of miles if you want to get clear picture in your telescope. It was needed to depart in the night to get there by sunrise. Unfortunately most of the long-haul flights (many BAWs, KLMs & MAS) flew over still in the dark between 04:30-05:30 AM. This is not a main routing over Hungary, just almost 30 percent of the morning traffic flows through this area.

                          Location: Apc, Hungary
                          Aug 29, 2003:
                          GFA 009 A-330 FL400 routing BUDOP-BNO 05:53 (new c/s)
                          GFA 007 A-340 FL380 routing BUDOP-BNO 06:03 (old c/s)
NWA 41 B-747 FL360 routing BUDOP-BNO 06:08 (Gee guys! It was beautiful, in old livery.)
                          BUC 505 TU-154 FL380 routing BUDOP-BNO 06:09
                          BGH 5907 Tu-154 (Balkan Holiday) FL360 routing BUDOP-BNO 06:12 (very nice, indeed)
PIA 715 B-747 FL360 routing BUDOP-BABUS 06:15 (old c/s)--Firstly instructed to proceed to BEGLA point but fortunately controller changed it to BABUS point, thx to the pilot, giving us a chance to see a Pakistan Jumbo in the old livery with its green belly (hopefully not the last time).
                          BUC 545 TU-154 FL360 routing BUDOP-BNO 06:18
                          KLM 1358 B-737NG FL340 routing BUDOP-BNO 06:39 (no contrail)
                          SXS 522 B-737 FL380 routing BUDOP-BABUS 06:32

                          Good spotting! :P

Weather gets cloudy so it seems we won't have much chance to see anything in the near future.

I never see any planes anymore.
Used to see loads, because I used to live under a flight path, about ten minutes from Melbourne Airport.

In one day, it was pretty standard to see a few Ansett 767's or 737's, and a few Qantas 747's fly over, along with a handful of Uniteds or Cathays or other similar international carriers.
I spent the best part of the first 18 years of my life walking around looking at the sky
I'm that star up in the sky, hey I made it, I'm the world's greatest.
