    Default Hot photo use reminder!!

This is a reminder of when to use the "Hot Photo" upload when its:

    A new airline.

A new colour scheme for an airline.

A new aircraft type for an airline or Air Force.

New aircraft types airliners, bizjets, cargo aircrafts, fighters ect.

A special colourfull scheme for an airline or Air Force.

When not to use the "Hot Photo" upload:

When the photo shows a new registration, but the airline already has several of the same aircraft type.

First visits of an airline to an airport if we already have 50+ photos in the data base of the same aircraft and airline.

"This is the first time I have ever seen one of these" is not a hot photo reason if it happens to be a widely covered aircraft already.

I could go on and on but I hope you get the idea Always check the data base first before uploading as hot, because many times we already have photos of the aircraft in the data base.

If it is a brand new aircraft, then upload as hot photo. If it "only" happens to be the first photo of an old aircraft stored somewhere (jus as an example), then upload as regular shot.

So would a picture depicting an aircraft that was spotted for the first time at a particular airport be considered a hot shot, unless there are 50+ photos of that aircraft/airline in the db??

I would think not, the 50+ bit was only an illustration.

Are the same screening standards applied to the screening of 'hot photos' ?
Is there a minimum level of acceptance?

    Thanks Paul.

That depends. Usually we expect the same quality standards also for hot photos. Exceptions could be photos, which we probably would not see again. But let's say, the first A380 in Emirates colors (just as an example) should meet the minimum quality standards, simply, because we know, we will be flood by a gazillion of top shots, so why accept a bad photo first?

Hope this clears it up. If not, here we are.

    Gerado,

Perhaps a review of the previous few days will show that a screener or two might have had a little too much xmas cheer in them while screening.

whilst i dont want to particularly point the finger, nor criticise screeners/photogs
there are somethings that just dont escape attention. So as you said above, why accept a bad photo, if a good one will come along later.

    Paul.

I'm back after a 2 days trip. I won't go browsing the db finding out, what you want to tell us. So, either you be more clear, or forget it. YOu can contact any of us also via PM, of course.

    Hi all,

What about an existing aircraft in a fleet but the first one with winglets?
I don't think it falls under the category of a new aicraft type for that particular airline..

    Question

BTW, there´s no link when you do a photosearch for the b787 among the Boeing photos, can it be fixed?

A new star alliance sticker on the side of an old A320 does not count as a 'hot photo.'

    Signed,
Dude who was refreshing the hot photo queue like mad yesterday looking for 787 photos.

Why does this only cover commercial aircraft? This site is for all types of aviation photography. I know the majority here is commercial but there is other hot news going on out there.

I think someone must have fixed that. Put 787 in the search keywords and up come the pics.
Could this have had something to do with a smartass comment on the "other" site ?
If it 'ain't broken........ Don't try to mend it !

We do also accept new military type for Air Forces as hot and any newsworthy event in the military "world"... But you can imagine that we can't take all the new military paintsheme as hot as we would with the civilian planes...
