  • Shortest Commercial flight?

I'd say between ACK and HYA. 12 minutes! But, those planes use Cessna 402's
Airlines..... Love em' or hate 'em

I think you should love 'em

Between Westrey and Papa Westrey in Orkney Islands, operated by Logan Air, 1.5mi, flight time between 1-2 minutes, depending on the wind. In general, people in Papa Westrey can see when the flight arrives at Westrey.

You'll prolly get a good altitude on the plane, at crusing altitude 40 ft before you finally have to descend..
      Inactive from May 1 2009.

There's also LAX-SNA in an EMB-120. Not sure how long that takes exactly but it's pretty quick.

                Some I remember of
                LAX-SAN
                American - DC10 / 707 / 727
                PSA - 727-200
                Western - the whole fleet
                MIA-FLL
                Delta - DC.8-61
                Braniff - DC.8-62 / 727
                Northwest - 720B / 707 / DC10
                LAX-Long Beach
                Continental - 727,
as with the afore mentionned Delta DC.8, when buying a ticket on this one usually culminated in having some agents suggesting you could rent a limo and give them a break !!!
                PHL-IAD
                United - DC.8-71
                Cotonou-Lomé
                Air Afrique - DC.8s / A300Bs / DC.10-30s
                Nice-Marseille
                RAM - 707 /727 /732
                Air France - 727, also on Bordeaux-Toulouse
                GVA-ZRH
                Swissair - DC.8 / DC.10 / 747
                TAP - 707
                List goes on
Off course the mentionned routes were not the O&D, as for instance AA 707 flew further to Tulsa, but there they were.

Was LAX-LGB commonly flown by the 727? That's crazy!

Jeez! I don't see how they made ANY profit off of that, even back when fuel was dirt cheap. I don't see who in their right mind would pay the price for a plane ticket on that short of a flight either.

Well, let's say the O&D at LAX was rather low on that flight . Anyone who has ever experienced traffic in the LA basin during rush hour, especially on I-405, will seriously be contemplating boarding a flight at LGB (in the past), SNA or ONT to LAX, to have the safety of knowing that you will catch your important longhaul flight from LAX. Plus of course, SNA and ONT are cheaper as far parking goes, and less jam-packed than the departure area at LAX.

Jersey to Guernsey 20mins on Shorts 360/ Trislanders - 25 mins on Flybe Dash 8

Guernsey to Alderney 15mins on Trislanders

Euro Atlantic used to fly Southmpton-Bournemouth-Southampton, I think it was 15mins each way on 733.
