      Saturday's Fact

      Saturday's fact is:
The human eye blinks an average of 4,200,000 times a year.
any volunteers to prove or disprove this by counting how many times they blink?

think about it, there are lots of flies in chocolate factories and when they land they get stuck and lose a leg, or two. anyways, i will make sure the rest of the "Fact of the Day" facts are really true. thanks for the input.

Thinking about it and it actually being true are two completely different things... Do you really think the health department would allow a place to be infested with enough flies to put 8 legs into the hundreds of thousands of chocolate bars that come out of that factory everyday?

Yup, just like eating spiders in our sleep.

Spiders are afraid of us, they wouldn't waltz into a wet mouth, and they're not suicidal. Unless one drops off the ceiling into your mouth, you're safe.

                  Sunday's Fact

                  Sunday's Fact is:
Maine is the only state whose name is just one syllable.
now if there is any controversy over this one then i give up.

                    Monday's Fact

                    Monday's Fact is:
The Main Library at Indiana University sinks over an inch every year because when it was built engineers failed to take into account the weight of all the books that would occupy the building.

How could they leave door or window open when they are processing the food? They are not supposed to do that! They should have air conditioner and keep away from bugs from the outside! They're idiot!

Food manufacturers aren't dumb. THey know about the process required to manufacture their respecitve foods and how to keep them protected from contamination. That being said, if the fact is true, it is a part of manufacturing that is simply unavoidable. Ive heard that there are larvae in everything we eat. ITs just unavoidable.

The first fact might not be a myth after all.

Chocolate is made in many places across the world, some less sanitary than others. And also, keep in mind they said "average". So you could have had a hundred legs in one bar because a whole swarm of insects fell into the chocolate vat, and that would take care of 12.5 chocolate bars not having legs. Averages are a wonderful thing because they are used to misrepresent statistics all the time.
"The Director also sets the record straight on what would happen if oxygen masks were to drop from the ceiling: The passengers freak out with abandon, instead of continuing to chat amiably, as though lunch were being served, like they do on those in-flight safety videos."

-- The LA Times, in a review of 'Flightplan'
