    Aj,

thanks for that - just wish the screener who rejected my appeal knew it - rejection reason was 'helicopter only pls'

          Hi everybody.

I have some doubts with "warbird/vintage" category.

For example.. If I make an advance search in homesite I find F-15E Strike Eagle (severals) that have the category of "warbird category" and if I repeat the search looking just for Boeing F-15 I find a lot of F-15's meaning that may of them were not uploaded as "warbird/vintage".

the same happens with General Dynamics F-16 and others.

My question is... after reading this post... a F-15 or a F-16 are warbirds?... whats the meaning of this category?.. for example... a Rockwell B1-B Lancer.. is a warbird?... because is use for war ¿is that the critery?

          thanks a lot.

Those are mistakes. any of F-15 or F-16 on service are NOT vintage/warbird. Only those on museums are.

            Regards

The 'C' in KC designated aircraft is for 'Transport', the 'K' was allocated for Tankers, however no stand alone Tankers were purchased so there are no 'K-' aircraft.

The purpose of categories here is to narrow down searches so the question is would a user select 'Cargo Aircraft' to find air-to-air tankers? Probably not!

So I guess the answer is no! A C-135 select 'Cargo', a KC-135 do not!

Can someone tell me what categorys to tick for a Miles Gemini? Is it small prop and warbird/Vintage?

How about a Pietenpol Air Camper? I only ticked small prop and it was rejected for categorys. How can an aeroplane built in 1991 be warbird vintage?

To hopefully answer Ollies' question. My view is that a homebuilt 1991 Pietenpol Aircamper built using modern materials and with a national registry database entry ( i.e G-INFO etc. ) showing its date of build is not warbird/vintage, obviously because of the manufacture date...the trouble is that it looks like it should be because it has roots as far back as 1933. I don't even know if there are any 1933 originals flying ?

This is where the uploader can help the crew by leaving an explanatory note to screeners in their upload as to why they have selected, or not selected a particular category. The facility is there, use it. I know that the Aircamper isn't vintage because I have an interest in PFA homebuilt aircraft and GA aircraft. Other screeners may be more airliner oriented and not be aware of this.
