  • An airline gets rid of a 'devil' code

    Translation:

    flyLAL group, a Lithuanian airline decided to change their code, whic is used to identify their stocks on the market. Reason: they had to get rid of sixes at the end of code, because it is commonly known that '666' is the devil's number.

    At first it might seem to be odd, but the meaning of numbers is still very important in branches like aviation. It's common that number 13 is ommitted in row numbering - said Linas Dovydenas, flyLAL ceo.

    The airline decided not to take risk and change it's code ISIN (International Securities Identifying Number). It will be changed from LT0000126666, to LT0000127995.

    Lol if it brings them more luck and profit, why not ?

    It wasn't just 666, it was 6666, which means that the folks at flyLAL are even more evil than your regular evildoers .

      I can understand why people are sensitive with 666, but that number is not actually 666, it's just a very large number ends with 666. Following this logic, even numbers like 1666 or 88666 are evil numbers!

      While many airlines have 666 in their flight numbers for years.

          TAP used to run flight 666 between AMS and LIS. Unfortunately they removed my favorite number from their schedule.

            It seems that people at TAP are not superstitious as their planes have row 13, unlike LH for example.

              You're quite right. Southwest skipped N911WN in its registration series for obvious reasons.

                Air Liberté used VD as the IATA two letter code, although they originally filed for BT unsuccessfully .... Wags and witty ones were quick to term it as Venerial Disease !

                  PIA = Please Inform Allah

                  Alitalia = Always Late In Takeoff And Late In Arrival

                  SAS = Sex And Service

                    TWA = Teenie Weenie Airline

                    And Delta had a phrase "Delta gets you there". But, after Delta 191 Crashed on the DFW airport, you might say, Delta gets you there, but not neccesarily alive.

                            Perhaps this is a bit off topic, but I remember a friend that had the locker number 666... Funny thing is, she was one of the most religious people I knew.
