    Default your equipment

Hey guys hows everyone doing? Im wanting to make a huge jump into purchasing a DSLR next month sometime and put together some options with lenses but im curious as to hear what your guys' lineup currently consists of im thinking of going with the 40D with a 10-22mm, 28-105, and 100-400 or if i can get an extra grand up grade a bit to the 10-22, 24-70, and the 70-200 with 1.4x.

This sort of thread appears regularly with varying responses.

    Personally I use a Nikon D200 and D70, 18-200VR, 80-400VR and 24-120VR lenses, SB800 flash (useful for hangar/museum shots).

Maybe I would have chosen Canon under different circumstances but really there isn't much between them and it's down to personal preference.

Your proposed line up looks pretty good to me, but Canon aren't my forte.

thanks andy i started out years ago with a nikon slr but when i looked at the kinda lineup of lenses mentioned about canon has prices that are lower than nikon for expample the 24-70 and the 70-200 im sure if i could find those two lenses by nikon cheaper or around the same price id love to go with nikon but right now with the money and that i think i would prob go with canon i priced the 40D body only with 28-105 10-22 and 100-400 for around 3K, i appreciate your reply

I use Nikon and a whole bunch of lenses. Although for spotting I use: Nikon D300, D70s, Nikkor 10.5 f/2.8 fisheye, Nikkor 12-24 f/4, Nikkor 18-70 - for when 24 is just too short, and my Sigma 50-500. I am thinking of selling the sigma for the 70-200 f/2.8 VR and a couple of TC's.

If you get the chance ...rent and try and shoot a day with the 40D and one day with the D300. After that I am sure you can take an educated decision ! I do think it's a worthwile option seeing the amount of money you're about to dish out ! You're getting married into a system and divorce will be very costly !

Haha, well, i went to John 3:16 the other day, and when i saw the 135L for $400 less than the cheapest ive seen it in NZ, and in a weaker currency and im getting the tax back, i couldnt resist.

That being said, the 135 is a joy to use, insanely sharp, so fast to focus.
