  • Deliberately lured by the Soviets ??

    Dear All,
I have recently heard that the Avro Tudor G-AGRH on 23rd April 1959

may have been lured off track by falsely identified NDBs used by the Soviets desperate to get a view of what was being carried. It has been suggested that this was one of very few Air Charter crews at the time that did not include an ex RAF navigator and therefore some of the more traditional methods of cross checking the navigation were not available to the crew. Also that other crews had experienced conflicting signals in the area on previous flights, what was the end destination of this flight ? Woomera? It is also alleged that the crash site had been visited prior to the arrival of the Turkish rescue party.

On the same theme was Canadair CL-44 LV-JTN on 18th July 1981

similarly deliberately deceived into a navigational error in order to terminate arms flights to Iran who at that time were not on good neighbour terms with the soviets?
Your thoughts comments and observations much appreciated.
    Be lucky
