  • New runways open at ORD, IAD and SEA

Two of which badly need additional runway capacity.

Very nice. O'hare needed a new runway the most by far and impressive with how quick it got done. I'm flying into o'hare tomorrow, maybe i'll land on the new runway. IAD, good for them but should have figured out the problem before they even built the new runway. SEA, good for them.

Went spotting yesterday by the new runway and I must say it is nice. You can land just about anything on it. I saw a huge range from a UA 777 to a SkyWest CRJ-200 land there. Great addition to the airport and I can't wait until the south runway is finished!

It's really nice to finally see some busy US airports get new runways. O'Hare definitely needed it, maybe it will finally help ease some of those endless delays. Agreed, the new runway is good for IAD, but they could've used it much sooner. Good for SEA as well. Now if only Heathrow could get a third runway...hmm, but I doubt that's going to happen anytime soon.

        Thank you,

my dad flew into here recently (within the last week) and said he saw 3 aircraft on final approach, side by side! after checking Wiki, and ORD's 7 runways, i can only see a maximum of two parallel runways, so who's right me or him?

            There is now at KORD 3 Parallel E-W runways 9L - 27R, 9R - 27L. and 10 - 28

so now there is the possibility of 3 A/C all on short finals
