    Ouch....

Lightning strip worked as advertised though.
-Not an Airbus or Boeing guy here.

If lightning struck through these composites and took out the radar; don't you see how that it might be theoretically possible that a lightning strike a commercial airliner made of composites such as the Air France flight 477 Airbus could possibly take out a flight computer.

Not to cause alarm; the composites over the radar dome likely were not nowhere near as lightning resistant as an airliner flight computer system. However I just want to point out to the naysayers though it may be unlikely, it still is reasonably possible that a lightning strike can take out an aircraft. Not all lightning is the same; there's some lightning out there that is much more powerful.

Not that I'm saying it was lightning that caused the mishap of Air France flight 477; just that it could have been.

The combination of turbulence (with hurricane force winds in a storm) in these severe thunderstorms, icing, hail and lightning could have brought the 447 down. Also, satellite images of 447's flight path at the time reveals to us that the 447 was flying through not just one but several storms.
