I just got these two pictures rejected because of beeing backlit, but how are these backlit? The sun was more or less alligned with the runway axis, so it was more infront of the aircraft than infront of the lense.
Looks like the sun was facing the aircraft yes, and probably just a bit on the other side of it too which makes the visible side of the plane too dark.
These are really hard to expose picture. If the plane would have been not that dark I guess it would have had a chance but here it just looks too backlit I'm afraid.

Unfortunately, the second photo looks backlit, as well. Notice how the plane is white, white paint is pretty reflective, so if the sun is shinning on the plane the plane will be well illuminated and the paint should be shinning. Compare the shinning nose to the rest of the aircraft and notice how much more light is reflecting off the nose. Here's some examples from photos I have taken.
