  • Transaero announces DME-MIA and DME-JFK!

Transaero Airlines, Russia's second largest passenger air carrier, is launching non-stop service from New York's John F. Kennedy Airport and Miami International Airport to Moscow's Domodedovo International Airport. The airline will become the only carrier offering a non-stop service from Miami to Russia. The service for both routes is scheduled to start in October, three times per week for the New York route and twice per week for the Miami route.

DME-JFK was expected, but the route to MIA, while odd, is not so much so. Miami-Dade and Broward counties host large Russian communities. It's good to see MIA getting more service as of late. As much as S7 might seem like a great idea, hopefully OneWorld can convince Transaero to join. Slim chance though...
Whatever is necessary, is never unwise.

They are growing at an incredible pase, just snatching up every 747/777 available, maybe will see an upgrade in yyz, utilizing 767 only twice wk. When aeroflot pulled out 4 weeklys, I thought for sure theyed bring in the larger birds.

It will be very interesting to watch Transaero over the next couple years as they expand across the pond and throughout asia. If they do join Star, it'll be nice having easy connections to Sochia via Moscow on Singapore/Transaero. It will make the oil crowd here pretty happy.
