Airblue 202 was attempting to circle in to RWY 12 in low visibility and the Capt lost visual on the runway and positional awareness but continued the illegal approach anyway, then failed to engage heading track mode on the FCU, thereby delaying the turn off from the mountains ahead. It was sheer muttonheadedness.

This one seems to have dropped while approaching the ILS to RWY 30. I don't know if it is coincidental, but the crash is reported to have occurred about 10nm out from the RWY30 threshold. The approach plate I have indicates a steep turn from 60 to 340 at the 10nm radius. Could something have gone wrong in the turn? Rudder PCU malfunction perhaps...

It seems more likely to be weather related...

this airline intentionally purchased a 30 year old 732 out of abandonment with the intention of what, using it in pax service until its 50? The steam gauges and antique engines would not support an overall "safety first" attitude in this company. having said all that I have no idea why this thing went down.

What's wrong with that? When an aircraft is well maintained, the age and instrumentation is no safety concern.

if their main goal is to find the cheapest aircraft available for sale on the planet, perhaps they are cutting costs in other safety-related aspects of their operation?

Bhoja Air station manager Zahid Bangish told a Pakistani television station later Friday that the "aircraft was new, not the old one and unairworthy."

Not sure about pax airplanes, but most cargo airplanes used by Fedex, UPS, DHL, etc. are old airplanes, most of their serial numbers are very low...probably the first 727-200 or 757 are still flying in one of those couriers I mentioned above.
