  • Hi Folks

I've had hit and miss with first / last light shots getting 'too dark / under exposed' (with the exception of silhouettes). My last appeal was successful however (thanks screener) They are all natural 'as was' shots. Here's one I took yesterday at first light. What do you think of its chances?

    • Hello.
First post here, thank you for this great site.

I photographed many airplanes in the past and I would like to post them now on the site. I'm starting with some photographs taken in peculiar conditions, so quality is possibly not so good as it could have been. Could you tell me if they are acceptable and, if not, may I have some suggestions on how to improve them? Many thanks.

      • Any chance this would be acceptable? I am thinking it is too obstructed. New registration doing hot weather testing in Arizona.Click image for larger version

        • Hi,

Is there any, even tiny, chance for this one? Or can I improve it somehow?

            Thanks
I like the angle and the processing you did to the photo, but unfortunately the photo is backlit.

As you expected, it is too obstructed.

                    Thanks,

You mean backlit because of bright background, right? Cause the sun was on the correct side of the runway.

Too bad it was a cloudy afternoon:/

Impossible to 'fix', you need to do a new edit without introducing them.

                            Exposure looks fine to me.

                              Hi,

The only one I can see possibly being made acceptable is the second one. It's quite noisy, but it should be possible to clean it up. The others suffer from contrast, backlighting, blurriness, etc.. that I don't think would be easily fixable.

Borderline for contrast/color (yellow) for me.

This would be rejected for dark & contrast.

Backlit refers to any case where the background is brighter than the subject/foreground, as it is in your photo.
