    Hi all,
    just a quick question.
    Most airliners have a horizontal greyish bar over the front door.
    und a silver direct underneath the door
    what are they for???

    Top metal lip is for Rain, Keeps the people in the doorway dry by directing the rain coming down the fuselage to the side of the door

    Do not know about the bottom, sorry

      The silver area below the doors is a reinforced wear strip. Generally made from stainless steel this protects against denting of the soft aluminum skin by airstairs or jetways. It also protects against having an area of paint worn away by the rubber bumpers on jetways and airstairs.
