  • Eyesight requirements for being a Airline Pilot

    Hi guys.

I researched this on the internet with vague results so hopefully somebody here can help me.
Can a near-sighted person become an airline pilot in the USA? I'm considering a career in aviation but am near-sighted. My nearsightedness can be corrected completely by glasses. I've seen pilots with glasses so it seems to be a yes, but is there a certain limit for how severe the myopia can be even if glasses can correct it?

    Help appreciated
    Thanks

From the FAA's "guide for aviation medical examiners" (https://www.faa.gov/about/office_org...ide/standards/)

"20/20 or better in each eye separately, with or without correction."
Or in other words: as long as your vision can be corrected to 20/20 in both eyes, you're good to go.
Be alert! America needs more lerts.
