  • LH-A359 inauguration

At least 1 jetphotos junior asked me about that bird in 2016...

Today I like to be so polite to answer, with a photo, of course. We wouldn't be on this platform if not a photo were included.

Where have you seen it first? I hope on JP. Here it is:

LH-A359, who provides photos from the 1st commercial flight?

[The explained weblink option here at JP is not yet awake this Thursday, so, I've given it a wake up call.]

India X-Ray Alpha, officially part of the LH fleet since yesterday (December 21st !), now already on the jetphotos stage... DUS does not (yet) know where the inauguration flight will take place, but I am sure MUC will tell us soon enough, won't they...

That really seems like a combined birthday- and Christmas-present for one very special LH enthusiast ...

A new member of the family.

For my friend, this special 1 "jetphotos junior" (which infact says nothing about his age):

I'd guessed that 'she' within 48 hours and without her 1st commercial destination, doesn't yet appear on the official Internet appearance... But I'm wrong.

    length: 66,8 m
wingspan: 64,75 m (that's the point where I always start to smile...)
    MTOW: 268 metric tons.

configuration, and now it starts to become interesting: 48/21/224 = ... . Puh. She's not as big as a bird with almost exactly the same wingspan...

But a respectable new member, also due to her range... Welcome to the club.

And now I quote some words that directly come from the airline. Thus, I assume that these words are cleared to be published also in English, here on this platform. I was not present when my avatar was inaugurated in Germany, but with the second most beautiful doubledecker jet in the airline, I was present during inauguration, also at DUS. It is always a feast.
Now the words directly from the airline.

Until December 31st 2016, the LH-A359 will be guest on the following German airports, during noncommercial flights:
MUC, STR, NUE, FKB, and.. Fliegerhorst Ingolstadt (IATA IGS)*. "" end of the (commented and translated) quotation.

I don't know if the locations become as full as during the inauguration of the biggest airbus, when DUS had to temporarily close the airport for visitors (on the landside, dt. Landseite!), but...
      it'll be a feast, I'm sure.

*not operated by Lw. Then it's clear why this place is completely new for me. The amount of learning material seems quite high for me in late December.

Am I the only jetphotos member with German as mother tongue? - No, there had been evidence that this is not the case.

And am I the only jetphotos member with a deeper insight in the LH fleet? - I even don't think that this is the case.

But I think that should be published here, by someone (directly from the airline, only translated by me):

The first commercial flight of the LH A350-900 will take place in Munich (Monaco di Baviera ), on Thursday, February 9th 2017 . Afaik, passenger capacity is normal, as mentioned before.
        boarding: 0945 local
        t/o (as planned): 1030 local.

And as I understand it, you n me should feel free to book that flight, now.

Hm. Exactly no one with questions, or with additional info? Seems as if this is my task tonight.

LSZH - on another aviation platform - often shows more than I publish here on jetphotos. But why is this the case? Ok, LSZH is much more nearer to the LH-A359 than me, measured in nautical miles.
But since almost a decade, I know a little bit about jetphotos. Theoretically, I don't have to be the only man who contributes to this topic... ! Alles muss man hier alleine machen...

First published by LSZH (the biggest airport in Switzerland), congrats to aerotelegraph for that, and with seven days delay on jetphotos...
the first two intercontinental destinations for the LH A350-900, not before February 10th 2017:

Delhi and KBOS (Boston Logan Intl).

Still no questions? Well, then I'll publish the destination for the February 9th flight in a week.

PS: If one aerotelegraph author reads this, and I bet that this'll be the case in the next few days, I like to comment the discussion that took place concerning the 359 inauguration.
It is not a question if the 359 is able to fly routes nonstop which today are served with LH-B744, or with the new sister ship 748i. As I mentioned here on jetphotos a few days ago, "puh, she's not quite as big as another bird with 65 m wingspan..." .

So, the demand will decide this question, that process hasn't changed since more than 30 years.

Three things are for sure: Orlando today is a LH-B744 flight. Mexico City today is a LH-B748i flight. And this is another hint for the aerotelegraph discussion: 744 or 748i, for both types Mexico City is not a challenge, you can trust me.
          Or you can ask Gabriel.

And KBOS on the first day of the New Year is served with the new sister ship (748i). Ah, and now, I see the KBOS trick which my favourite airline has in mind: both, 748i and 359 will serve Boston Logan, beginning with February 10th 2017 ?
I've never visited KBOS with my semipro LH-B744 simulator, but since today, the airport is on the list, for January.

There are birds in this airline where apparently I am a little bit closer to than other airports.

February... until then (and as I assume also in March) KBOS can rely on one of the most prominent aircraft shapes, invented by one of the geniuses who died in 2016 - besides Prince,
            Mr Joe Sutter (1921-2016) , father of the 741, 742, 743, 744 and 748i and 748F and... 747SP...

Also in February 2017, "we" expect

India X-Ray Bravo, the #2 LH A350-900 in the fleet. But that should be enough for today and for all of us...

I wish us a very pleasant New Year's Eve, if we don't meet here again in 2016,

not only on both sides of the pond (Atlantic Ocean), but at least on all airports which are served by LH.

55 photos, until now, for the X-Ray Alpha, and zero photos for a LH-A359 on my home airport. But that has never been announced, so... I'm already proud of Spohr (LH CEO), because he stays with the LH long haul in Northrhine-Westphalia, which is his and mine origin (as I mentioned some weeks before). You are born in the 1960s or 1970s near DUS, in contrast to Spohr's predecessor? Ask Spohr, or me, you won't find better specialists for our home airport.

Triple 3 for DUS - Newark, beginning with March 2017. And since I am here at Jetphotos, I begin to understand that for Chief Engineer Sutter's home airport (KSEA), we better use
a 13,000 ft rwy, instead of only 9,800 ... A LH-B744 has never been modest concerning airport size, rwy size and gate size. But the 747 survives, as you know.

LH B747 since 1970, and she's never moved away from Rhein/Main.

47 years. That's a history, which the LH-A350 won't repeat, at least not in the presence of you n me. Or what do you plan for the year 2064?

85 is a religious wish, if you ask me...
