  • French Air Force Code/Registrations?

    All,

Apologies if this is posted somewhere already: can someone please explain the situation with French Air Force codes vs. registrations?

For example, the A400M currently supporting the Patrouille de France wears a visible mark of "F-RBAH", however per this database and scramble.nl, the A/C serial (used in the upload registration field) is "0031", whereas the F-number is the "Code", and is not displayed in the Jetphotos data. What is the reasoning behind using the serial for identification of the aircraft? Is the civilian-style code not a unique-to-aircraft registration?

    Thanks!

The serial is on the Tail of the aircraft. De civil reg the code. French AF uses these civil regs as callsigns in flightplans. Think to avoid some political restrictions while overflying several countries.

We use, like scramble indeed the military serial.
