  • Air France A380 (CDG-LAX) engine failure west of Greenland

    Engine failed inflight. Flight diverted to Goose Bay Airport, in Labrador in eastern Canada

    Former aircraft mechanic who was a passenger on the flight believe it was a stage one fan failure.

    The A380 with more than 500 people on board makes an emergency landing at a small Canadian airport.

    Interesting to see if it's somehow related the earlier engine issues on the A380.

    Who knows the manufacture of the engines Air France uses on the A380?

      According to AvHerald, this plane has Engine Alliance engines. Previous issues were with Rolls Royce.

        BBC: Engine Debris Found in Greenland
        One of the engines failed and parts fell off during an Air France transatlantic flight on Saturday.


        A Danish helicopter spotted the engine parts on an remote icy desert area 150km south-east of Paamiut town.

        Danish and French investigators are working to recover the debris.
