After a few hours perusing the duty free shops at Terminal 3 at LHR, we boarded our Emirates 777-31H A6-EMU for the 6:45 hour flight to Dubai.
Before we leave LHR, Terminal 3 is receving a lot of upgrading but parts of it are still really dingy and dark, with very low ceilings in a lot of places. But unless you are flying internationally with BA this is where you leave from.
Our gleaming white 777 was waiting at Gate 13, and boarding commenced about a half hour prior to departure. The aircraft was less than a year old with a light airy desert motive on the walls and bulkheats and a colouful yet subtle arabic pattern on the 3-4-3 seating. Initially in 27C I changed to another seat as my entertainment system was jammed and despite being reset twice refused to budge. Seats were very comfortable but are not most airlines using a 3-3-3 or 2-5-2 config for this aircraft. Wing headrests and aluminum footrests were standard. Take off with the aid of the Trent 892s was smooth and silent as was climb and cruise. The entertainment system was a real piece of technology-camera forward and looking down, movies, games airmap etc all available. The cabin service for which Emirates is reknowned started out with a free bar and beverage service (less Champagne), followed by one of the best airline meals I ever have had in Y (WardAir was in the same category)

I would definately fly Emirates again, the only black mark on this trip being the non functioning PTV
