    Hey

    If you can see in the histogram, there is a gap on the right and the left side. That means that the bright tones are too dark and the dark tones are too bright.
    This leads to the contrast rejection, in your case it´s to little contrast.
    The following example (left side edited / right side is your original) should be acceptable:

    I have brightened the bright tones and darkened the dark tones. And have leveld your picture (i´ve used the sock in the background).
