Some accounts I've read seemed to indicate that it happened very high - 30K feet. I'm curious - at what height do you pilots stop worrying about birds?

What are your theories as to what caused this?

    Thanks!

I sort of answered my own question with regard to how high birds can fly - pretty interesting article. Net/net, some can fly high - like AMAZINGLY high!

What allows high-flying birds to cruise at exceptional altitudes?
