That makes sense. Thanks for clarifying.

I was trying to figure out when a cropped photo of the fuselage, say the front, is categorised as 'Part of aircraft cutoff'. I looked through the forums but I couldn't find the info. Do you have any general pointers?

    Cheers

In the upload guideline, chapter 3.2 you will find this:
    3.2 Cut Off

In many cases cropping out parts of the aircraft improves the photo.

If something has been cut off without a clear motive for doing so it will most likely be rejected. Generally speaking, do not crop through essential parts of the main subject. As a rule of thumb if you want to show a close up of an aircraft, show only the main subject. For example: a photo showing almost the whole aircraft, but with the tail chopped off will most likely be rejected. A photo with a part of the aircraft, such as an engine cut off will also lead to a rejection in the majority of cases.

Likely a rejection for soft and contrast.

    Hi,

I'm experimenting with a few things so wanted to check this photo. I'm also aware of the heat haze but having seen a number of similar photos on JP I wanted to check this.

Yes, heat haze/jetwash is noticeable on the aircraft. Would also be rejected for centering/too far.

Maybe a touch soft, and I'd be careful some of the highlights don't get blown out, but otherwise should be ok.

Last one maybe a bit soft, otherwise quality would be ok for me.

Cheers and thanks for all the previous feedback. I can see a significant improvement in the quality of my photography and editing since I started and the recent feedback has really helped.

    Hi,

Could I have your thoughts on these two and in particular the different sized crop.

I'm not sure what that means. My query related to were there any quality issues with either of them. If there weren't any, which of the two is the recommended crop. I'm not looking to submit both, just one of them.

The crop is fine for both, so please choose the one you plan to submit. We can offer advice on editing, but not on selecting which one you prefer from a set of multiple similar images.

All I needed to know was whether the crop on either was fine or not rather than help in selecting which is the better one so I can develop my ideas.
