  • Tropic Air Cessna Hits Subaru on Takeoff, Placencia Belize Nov 17 2017

First time posting and did not see this discussed previously.

A Cessna 208B Grand Caravan passenger plane, registered V3-HGX, sustained substantial damage in a take-off accident at E off Placencia Airport (PLJ), Belize. All 11 passengers and one pilot survived. The airplane operated on a flight from Placencia Airport (PLJ) to Punta Gorda Airport (PND).

Almost as bizarre as the plane hitting a Subaru on takeoff, the acting Prime Minister of Belize was a passenger. The plane crashed in shallow water and everyone was OK.

While in Placencia last week we happened upon the remains of the plane, which is sitting outside a warehouse next to a Marina. photo attached. I will post additional photos and my first question is, is the aircraft salvageable? To my untrained eye it was damaged beyond repair.

thanks in advance for any insight.

The second of the two photos are pieces of the fuselage, which we found in the grass next to the airstrip in Placencia.
