Default First reg badge on different MSN

    Dear admins,

adding my question here to trigger an answer, as the topic is hot...

The issue in other threads is with different aircraft types, as far as I understood.
But what if the Reg comes on a new airframe of the new type?

https://www.jetphotos.com/registration/HB-FRA all previous serial numbers got a badge.
    https://www.jetphotos.com/registration/HB-FRF Not .
    https://www.jetphotos.com/registration/HB-FQB YES
    https://www.jetphotos.com/registration/HB-FQN Not .

https://www.jetphotos.com/registration/HB-FSP Sometimes no badge at all

Rarely all new MSN with same multiuse rego get badges, mostly not though. So is "new badge for new MSN" different to the "new badge for new TYPE" ?

    Please advise, thanks.

The badge is auto added with a new reg. For re-used registrations the badge needs to be added manually.

Thanks Erwin - what's the procedure for this? Request through this thread?

Basically, Factory Regs HB-FR*, HB-FS*, HB-FQ* are all used several times (more than a dozen over time) so there's a lot of batches to add manually. How do I (and others) proceed?

    Again, Erwin, how's this done?
A fellow screener of yours responded to my request added with the screening of the photo
"Not sure why you'd get a badge for the fact this has been in the database for 14 years"
    and
"There's no way to add any badge in the screening page. Normally, it is automatically added by the system."
While I appreciate the answer on my requests within the upload form/process, I unfortunately derive that there's no strict policy as to whether this badge is applied as per it's name for just the first registration or, as the discussions and evidence, see above the regs, show, applied for any new aircraft coming to the database, whether flying with an entirely new registration or with a registration which was used before.

    https://www.jetphotos.com/registration/OO-SFE
https://www.jetphotos.com/registration/HB-FRF (two have it, two don't)

So, again, may I ask the Screener Team to come up with a policy - and I'm the last to complain if this translates into taking badges off images. But right now, it's a mixed bag of apples. Grazie Mille!

All the recordings are used several times but the MSN is different

On the screeneing page we cant select the badge. We can only do it afterwards. The system recognizes if a reg is totally new for the dbase and automaticly selects it hot plus badge. A re-used reg for a new airframe does not go through this process and is screened normally or hot if the uploader selected it hot.
The badge needs to be added afterwards and technicly isnt correct since it isnt really a new reg. Only a new frame.

Still the HB reg is obviously used by the manufacturer and not the RAAF. So in short - manufacturer used regs - do not get the badge for new frames associated to the reg

Thanks Stefan, that is a statement and policy we can work on. It also makes more sense. If there's a totally new type/aircraft flying with a reg. previously used, then I agree the badge could be added manually afterwards.

So there's a few examples then where I ask you to take the badges off several images:
https://www.jetphotos.com/registration/HB-FRF received badge in 2 out of 4 images
https://www.jetphotos.com/registration/HB-FQB received badge in 4 out of 5 images
https://www.jetphotos.com/registration/HB-FRA received badge in 5 out of 5 images
Not sure how they all got the badge in the first place, but ok. Mistakes happen. More to be reported here if noticed.

Would you please add the badge here instead:
    https://www.jetphotos.com/registration/HB-FSP id=6432682

    Thanks again!

Thanks Admins for adressing the request in my above post.

I systematically checked the Reg batches used by a certain manufacturer which operates near my home.

    https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/keyword/HB-FRB id=376700 should get a badge
https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/keyword/HB-FRK id=8546549 please delete (my) badge
    https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/keyword/HB-FRN id=420208 should get a badge
    https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/keyword/HB-FRO id=6298764 should get a badge
https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/keyword/HB-FSJ id=7929649 please delete the badge
https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/keyword/HB-FQP id=8739697 please delete (my) badge
    https://www.jetphotos.com/registration/HB-FVC id=6317318 should get a badge
    https://www.jetphotos.com/registration/HB-FVE id=6562246 should get a badge

    https://www.jetphotos.com/registration/HB-FVK id=7025780 should get a badge
    https://www.jetphotos.com/registration/HB-FOB id=264501 should get a badge

That is pretty much it . A lot less issues than expected

Can someone explain to me why an electronic badge seems to be so important to the continuance of human life on this planet ?

    Hi Mirko,
I think I have corrected them all, thanks a lot for the corrections !!

@Brian - Mirko is only doing it for database accuracy, and he actually requested badges for other people and badges to be removed from him so....

    Cheers
    Alex

It's a tough fight Brian. Actually I try to exercise my bad English. I want a lot of good for this fantastic community.

But to return to the question and not to argue. If first registration is intended the registration of the name and not of the plane, what is the point of adding the SN / CN? In the case of Pilatus (but I think of all manufacturers), these use recordings, i.e. "temporary" until the aircraft is delivered. If a photographer has a shot of this while leaving the hangar, it seems right that his luck is rewarded (after all you have provided this type of award for the first shot). Now, I do not want to get it wrong because my English sucks. If so, please forgive me.

As we must do it manually every time and manufacturer used registrations are meant to be used by constantly changing frames, it simply saves us some time, that is better used for screening photos.

Given that the avgeeks live by the registration, like "hey I caught D-EINS", and not like "hey I caught 46-8508106", it makes more sense to award the "new registration".
The SN is recorded in the database to track the history of a single airframe. If the aircraft would be re-registered to "M-EINS" but still be 46-8508106, one could keep track.

You are welcome Alex, exactly as you say. Just a tiny tiny tiny bit more accurate now

This was clear to me. It was a rhetorical question.
So every different reg. but with the same MSN is new reg.
The opposite is not the same: Equal reg. but different MSN different aircraft.
