    Hi,

Both have issues with poor light/contrast (blown out sky), and softness. First is also too low in the frame.

Contrast is still off. The weather simply was not right for proper photography.

I appreciate that, sadly due to the nature of this aircraft it is very difficult to plan when to shoot it. As it appears to be a new registration on the database, in your opinion is it still worth a submission attempt?

    Hi Guys,

Firstly, apologies for the creation of a new thread the other day, I completely missed the guidelines sticky somehow. Rest assured it's been read and well digested now. If one of the admins could change the thread title to the appropriate format it would be appreciated as I seem unable to do it.

Secondly, if you would be so kind as to offer feedback on the following images that would be great.

    Thanks

    Im not a screener but...

    EasyJet: Soft, Underexposed, More contrast
    Business Jet: Underexposed, More Contrast

Again, the conditions you were shooting in are pushing your camera and ability to edit the photo a bit...

Thank you, all feedback is greatly appreciated. As I've said before I'm a complete novice here but fingers crossed I will improve.

I'll have another play with them and see how close I can get them, although I understand completely the point you made about all the relevent factors. Hopefully it'll be good practice for when the good weather arrives.

Hopefully there is some improvement to be seen now.

Both would be rejected for contrast and soft.

Some contrast added, especially around the sky tones, and a little sharpness added.

I understand I may be onto a lost cause with this image to start with but hopefully there is some improvement to be seen. Trying to work on my editing skills.

Sorry, due to the poor light, don't think you could ever make this image acceptable for here. This version is even worse than the previous.

Fair enough, more work required then on clearer days. Thanks for the feedback. hopefully I'll get some sunny spotting days soon.

    Good Evening,

Another one to cast your eyes over if you'd be so kind.

I know I seem to struggle on the contrast front, so hopefully this will at least be OK on that front.

Aah the dreaded softness strikes again. Can see the blurriness as well now. At least the contrast seems ok.

Any advice for the softness problem, either when shooting or editing? I never want to take it too far in lightroom for fear of making it too noisy.

Better to fix sharpness issues before editing. In that case, for that image in particular, the blurriness is more of a factor than anything else; unsurprising as shooting at 1/125 at that focal length will usually tend towards blurry results.

I usually shoot at 1/250 for props, god knows what made me go lower today. Won't be doing that again!

I have an earlier shot that was taken with aperture priority rather than shutter, should be sharper. I've been staring at this screen for so long now I can't tell.
