Thanks for the advice. As per my last request on the KLM the aircraft was facing directly into the sun hence the impression of backlit. Is number 1 worth working with or is the light completely ruined it?

With a bit better framing (more ramp, less sky) it might work, but part of problem is at that angle, widening the shot won't actually show you that much more of the ramp, just more grass.
