    contrast issues

hi guys, i post all of my pictures i want to upload on the post processing forum and it helps alot but i still have one big problem which effects about 50% of my photos and that's contrast, so i'm wondering what would help me with being able to know when my picture has to little or to much contrast. If it's cloudy can i do anything about it? so if anyone has solutions on getting over this obstacle i would highly appreciate it, thanks

A common way to get a contrast rejection is when you shoot photos in bad lighting, such as cloudy, overcast weather.. I, too struggled with this, but overcame the issue by trying to avoid spotting in cloudy weather.

If possible, try only to shoot in sunny, clear weather, and you probably won't have as many rejections..

As for this photo, in my opinion, I think it needs more contrast.

      Thanks,
      Andrew

thanks for the feedback, and i would love to be able to choose when i go to an airport but i have stuff to do in the weekdays so i'm limited to weekends and for the last couple weeks on the weekends it's only been cloudy so i'm trying to find out how to get acceptable images here when it's cloudy cause in a couple months there will be small amount of sunny days here in England and i see images on here which are cloudy so i'm assuming it's not impossible to get cloudy images up here

            Hello Jake,

I'm not a screener, but this is what I see. Hope it helps.

            1. Contrast, shadows hard to get photos accepted when there are poor lighting conditions.
            2. Slight CCW rotation, underexposed.
            3. Underexposed looks backlit to me, but may not be.
            4. Slight CCW rotation, shadows/dark contrast.
            5. Slight CCW adjustment, a little exposure, contrast, lighting conditions are poor.

              1-2 borderline contrast
              3-5 contrast/backlit. probably not fixable.

Horizon is not an issue with any of these images.

The histogram can tell you if there's a (fixable) issue with contrast, but sometimes it's just poor light (as in these cases) that won't be obvious in the histogram. Just remember in general, the less direct light on the subject (aircraft), the less likely it is to be acceptable for here.
