  • Engine size question

Does anyone know which engine is bigger?

    1. B777 or A345/346

    2. Are there any difference between B772 and 773's engine?

It just looks to me that A345/346 has engines that is as large as the 777s. It could be an illusion. 772 and 773 both uses RR Trent 892 and GE90, so I was just wondering if there's any difference?

Thus far, the GE 90 is the world's largest jet engine.

Hello, i don't know about the size, but i do know about the thrust and the other stuff. The GE engines on the 777(fan) has a diameter of 10 FT 3 In (3.12 meters) causing enormous centrigugal forces. The 777's have the following engines:

      200ER series 2 x 93,700 lb GE90-94B;
      or 2 x 84,000-90,100 lb Pratt & Whitney PW4048/4090
      or 2 x 86,500-93,250 lb Rolls-Royce Trent 884/895
      200LR series 2 x 110,000 lb GE90-110B1
      300 series 2 x 90,000-98,000 lb PW4090/4098
      or 2 x 90,000 lb RR Trent 892
      300ER series 2 x 115,000 lb GE90-115B

        Thanks PIAA310

Yeah but despite this, the GE90 appeared a little bigger than the RR and PW engines on the 772 and 773. But this could be an illusion

So does it mean the 777-200LR and 300ER is limited to the GE90s only?

Does anyone know the trust and the diameter of the A345/346?

          Re:

The GE 90's are as wide as the cabin of a 737. Although it is bigger than the RR's and P&W's, it's not as powerful. But it is the world's largest engine. But all these are easily outdone by the GE 90-115B, which has a thrust of 115,000 lbs. Talk about raw power.

If u wanna read more about the -90, here's a thread on a.net:
