Has ATC Sim 2 ironed out most of the bugs from the first version? I had the original since day 1 and it was a complete waste of money and time.

Having never used it myself, I can't tell you!

I know they have offered many patches and upgrades on their website.

I would think that v2 should be more user-friendly.

Go to Chicago... ATC is guaranteed to speak so fast, you'll have no idea what the hell they are saying

I'm not exactly sure what program you are talking about, but as far as I know, the speech rate cannot be changed in the freeware programs.

Any ideas about ATC Sim?

I've played BAO tower thats pretty good except you have to function as a ground,tower and approach controller at the same time.

I just got ATC Simulator 2, and I think it is quite good!

I think it is better than the other programs out because you can essentially just jump into any sector and go straight to it. Other programs require you to intensively study and practice (realistically) each sector before you can even begin to think about operating it effectively.

You can operate as just Departure, just Approach, or both at the same time. The number of aircraft and the variety, as well as both ILS and visual approaches make this program very realistic (on the other hand).

I am very interested in Air Traffic Control and seriously considering it as a career, and have tried many different ATC programs, including Controlling on VATSIM.

I honestly say that, next to the human interaction of VATSIM which really is "more than just a game"..as a game, ATC Sim2 is great.
