Zoom???

Hey guys, I am kind of new to the site. I tried to upload some photos of mine but found out when I make them narrower than 1280 pixels, the plane gets cut too. I came to a conclusion that I need to do less zoom on the plane, so the photo will contain more space I can cut to make in narrower than 1280 pixels. But I Don't understand, some photos here are such a close up on a plane it seems like ×20+ zoom, when I use maximum a ×7. If someone could tell me how can I take photos where I can both see the plane good and cut it to less than 1280 pixels it will be awesome.

you need to use Resize option. Zoom has nothing to do here
