    Hello all!

    i just have a question regarding night shots. How on earth do photographers take stunning night photos of planes flying overhead. (not long exposure or gate shots)

    what settings are needed and what editing skills/techniques do you use to create that masterpiece. i know the basics like wide aperture eg 2.8 and 1.8, low shutter and ISO.

    the look i'm loving is the 'white' look like the whole plane is exposed and lit up. no matter how much settings i try i just can't seem to get it right. so if anyone knows or you do this type of photography please let me know!

    my gear i used;
    Nikon z5 ( Mirrorless full frame)
    nikor 18-55mm f3-f6
    nikor 70-300 f4-f6
    sigma 150-600mm
    sigma 70-200 2.8

    Kind Regards

    Hello.

    i tried nightshots once and have to say that its not that complicated. First of all, exposure metering should be set to center so that exposure depends not on whole frame(most of which is dark background) but on aircraft itself so aircraft can be exposed right. Mostly use your 70-200 2.8 at 2.8 aperture, iso 6400 in aperture priority so that it finds up needed shutter speed. Hope it helps.
